content consideration

Since a web-site is all about 'content', the information and meaning of the web-site needs to be considered fully before the site can be designed. We work closely with our clients to ensure that their web presence will represent them in the way they require.

Considering content, involves asking the following questions and firmly deciding on the answers to them. It is often help full to use a company mission statement or to create a statement as a guide.

  • text content
—What will be said about your company or your profile?
—What are the main points you would like to express using your site?
—What information about your company or yourself do you consider appropriate for the global internet audience?
—What products or services do you want to offer?
—What contact information if any do you want to publish?
—What kind of control do want over this information?
—What level of interactivity is appropriate for your needs (will you want an on-line survey page, or collect email addresses from your users etc.?)
  • image content
—What images will represent you the best?
—Do you have images for use already or do you need to think about getting some pictures taken and/or images made that you would feel good about?
—You will need to consider how images affect your users (or your business) and decide which ones are appropriate.
  • logos
—Do you already have a logo that you would use to brand your web-site? If you require assistance creating a logo, we can help you. Check out our graphic design section and email us .
—Is your logo appropriate or would you need to make alterations to make a more effective impression on a web page (also a service we provide)?
  • links
—You'll have to decide which links are needed 'within' your site and on your homepage... this depends on the architecture/content decisions you make for your site. How many unique categories are needed to cover your site? What are they? These are the main links you will need between your pages.
—What links (if any) do you feel you would want to 'outside' sites and where on the site do you deem loutbound links to be appropriate? Keep in mind that a link to another site may mean you lose traffic to that site, but you may well recieve traffic if you have a decent reciprocal link swap from them.
