During the graphic layout stage of the web-site development process we focus on how the content will appear (placement, fonts, page layout etc.) as well as the 'look and feel' of the site (graphics used to highlight and categorize content... graphic links, graphic borders, backgrounds etc.) Whether the graphic layout is done using pre-existing templates or creating a unique user interface depends on the needs of the client. The simple site and the on-line brochure include the use of pre-existing templates to keep the costs low, as developing a unique look and feel can be time consuming and costly. The following describes each option better.
using templates
when using a pre-existing template content is simply filled in the appropriate containers. The logo would go where the logo container in the template is, links would be placed in the link menu, and the content would fill in the body section. Using a template is the most cost effective way of building a web-site, in fact the simple site package utilizes templates (we have a range to choose from) to set up a minimal web presence and at an extremely reasonable rate. The down-side of using templates is that your choices are limited to the graphic layout and elements that make up the template. To view our templates click here.
developing a unique user interface
In developing a unique user interface the 'look and feel' of the site is yours. We work together with our clients to give them the layout they think suits their content the best. Designing a user interface is included with some web-packages. See packages for details.
